Mojave Flowers
Wildflowers by Color
When trying to identify a new plant, flowers can often be the extra difference leading to a definitive identification. I have included flower pictures below, which can be separated by color to aid in plant identification. Flowers are made up of four basic parts: the pistil, stamens, sepals, and petals. I have included a terminology page to help with new terms and concepts. The important thing to remember is that not all flowers have petals and a flower is sometimes not the most colorful part of the inflorescence. For instance, the Indian Paintbrush shown on the right has red bracts and green flowers! Click on the button below to learn more helpful flower concepts and terminology.
