Eriophyllum lanosum
White Easterbonnets
Eriophyllum lanosum is one of the smaller belly flowers of the Mojave and Sonoran deserts. Its common name, white easterbonnets, refers to its peak bloom period often coinciding with the spring holiday. The plant is heavily covered in white, woolly hairs which help reflect intense desert sunlight and conserve moisture. A diminutive and charming desert annual, often appearing as a tiny tuft of woolly white foliage topped with daisy-like flowers.
