Eschscholzia glyptosperma
Desert Gold Poppy
Eschscholzia glyptosperma is often confused with E. parishii, but it can be identified by its strictly basal leaves and its seeds, which are distinctly pitted or carved (hence the name glyptosperma). It is a quintessential spring annual of the Mojave Desert. A brilliant yellow poppy of the desert flats, distinguished by its deeply pitted seeds and tufted growth habit.
