Palmer's Metalmark
Introduction:
It is a small butterfly found in western North America, ranging from Texas and California south to central Mexico. It is characterized by its dark brown or gray wings with a copper tinge and numerous small white spots, some forming submarginal bands. The underside is orange with white spots and black submarginal spots.
Life Cycle: Females lay eggs on mesquite leaves, and the caterpillars construct nests of tied leaves from which they emerge to feed. There are two generations per year from May to September in Nevada and Utah and multiple generations from April to November in the south.
